CBD & PETS

Chances are you’ve already experienced glimpses of hemp’s goodness for yourself. Maybe consistently using a premium hemp extract was enough to improve your mood, recover from exercise-induced inflammation, or help you experience a good night’s rest.

So maybe it’s only natural to look at your pet, see them struggling with the very same things…and wonder if CBD could help them the same way it helped you!

The experiences of thousands of happy pet owners seem to say it can. And a growing number of veterinarians agree!

Why? Because your pet’s body responds to CBD just as well as yours does — and it’s all thanks to a little something called the endocannabinoid system. We promise to not bore you with science, but the research probably does deserve a closer look. Keep reading to find out more…

CBD FOR PETS: WHAT THE RESEARCH SAYS

There aren’t all that many studies out surrounding  CBD for Pets. What we have available, however, looks very promising:

  • A 2018 study titled “Pharmacokinetics, Safety, and Clinical Efficacy of Cannabidiol Treatment in Osteoarthritic Dogs” demonstrated that CBD may reduce the pain levels of arthritis dogs with no negative side effects [1]

  • A 2016 review described how the “beneficial effects of cannabinoids in […] animals have been reported e.g. for disorders of the cardiovascular system, cancer treatment, pain treatment, disorders of the respiratory system or metabolic disorders […]” [2]

  • In 2017, the Canine Health Foundation launched a study in to CBD’s value for epileptic dogs. Initial results showed a 90% improvement rate! [3]

  • A more theoretical 2018 study stated that “the development of new anti-inflammatory treatment strategies in canine CNS inflammation should involve the ECS [endocannabinoid system]” [4]

Thankfully, there may be no better way to involve the ECS in kickstarting your pet’s health than by giving them premium CBD specifically formulated for your furry friends.

CBD FOR CATS

Is your cat anxious, restless, or even hostile?

If so, consider CBD. The right dose of CBD should go a long way towards improving things. Plus most veterinarians agree that it’s completely safe for your cat. CBD may stimulate your cat’s neural connections (aka., their brain!) and provide a sense of peacefulness and calm.

And if your cat is fearful of new experiences, you might be glad to hear that CBD’s been shown to ‘block’ the formation of fear-based memories. [5] So say goodbye to post-traumatic stress…and hello to a kitty that’s open to new adventures and experiences!

CBD FOR DOGS

You can give CBD oil as well as CBD Pet Soft Chews to your canine friends, too. CBD may reduce the separation-induced uneasiness many dogs often feel when apart from their owners. It may also help your dog be less aggressive and more sociable. (Scientists are still trying to figure out why…but it seems to be because of oxytocin!) [6]

CBD may also be helpful to older dogs because it can counteract stiffness and loss of movement. Many owners find that CBD practically turns back the clock on their dog’s quality of life — more on that later. If your furry friend is suffering, give them a chance to improve with CBD. After all, a man’s best friend deserves the best.

One word of caution here: don’t give your dog CBD-infused edibles which contain chocolate, raisins, or grapeseed oil. Those things can be toxic to them. Plus edibles can be very difficult to dose.

Instead, opt for a premium CBD oil made specifically for pets. That’s what dog-owner-of-two Kelsey Cole did, and the results were amazing.

“They are like completely different dogs […] CBD has been life-changing. I look at him and can’t believe he’s 10,” Cole tells Considerable.  “I have never seen something work so well.”

CBD FOR OTHER PETS

And CBD’s benefits don’t stop there. The plant compound may be good for other types of animals, too — even much larger ones like horses.

In fact, CBD may be especially helpful to horses, who often face problems as they age because of their large size. Horse owners say their equine friends become happier and more active again once CBD becomes part of the routine.

And if you’re wondering about CBD dosing for horses you’re not alone. Given that CBD is usually dosed based on bodyweight…most horses need to take a lot of the supplement to really improve. How much, exactly? Approximately 100 milligrams of CBD a day for full-sized horses, and up to 200 milligrams a day for large breeds.

Apparently, CBD for horses works well enough that governing bodies have prohibited racehorses from taking it. Seriously — here’s more info from Horsetalk: “CBD is likely to affect the performance of a horse due to its reported anxiolytic effects.”

If the fact that CBD’s went “nearly mainstream” among racehorses isn’t proof of its efficacy, we don’t know what is!

HOW TO GET YOUR PET(S) TO TAKE CBD

If you’ve made it this far, you’re probably more interested in CBD for your pet’s sake than ever.

But your pet may not feel quite the same way. In other words, there’s a real practical problem here: pets don’t always like the taste of CBD oil. And we don’t blame them — many CBD products are way too earthy and hempy to be enjoyable.

That’s where our premium CBD Oil Pet Tinctures come in handy. It’s both simple and effective for your pet. And that means you can expect to see a calmer, happier, and healthier version of them in the near future!
